How much do I need?

Estimate based on typical dry sand density (approx. 1.6 tonnes per m³).
Based on approx. 0.9 tonnes of building sand per 1,000 standard bricks with 10 mm joints (1:4 mix), including wastage. Cement is not included. Frogged or perforated bricks may need more.
Approx. 5 m² per 20 kg bag for new 50 mm block paving (3–6 m² depending on joints), or around 15 m² when topping up joints after cleaning.
Based on approx. 25 bricks per 20 kg bag, plus 10% for wastage.
Compacted estimate (approx. 2.2 tonnes per m³): one 20 kg bag fills about 0.36 m² at 25 mm deep. Fill holes deeper than 30 mm in layers, compacting each one.
Tip: seal sand in inner bags before filling to prevent leaks and dust.
